Transformation
"The soul's advances
are not made by graduation, such as can be represented by motion
in a straight line, but rather by ascension of state, such as
can be represented by metamorphosis ... "
-
Ralph Waldo Emerson
How many times have you heard someone say
that their life transformed after they took the Lifespring trainings?
Perhaps you have said something like that in expressing the
value of the trainings to another.
What do we mean when we say we are in the
business of transformation? So as not to exploit the language,
for which I have great respect, let's look closer at the meaning
of the word which defines the core of our work.
Webster's defines "transform" this
way: to change in composition or structure ... to change
in character or condition. Thus, a "transformation"
is: an act, a process, or instance of transforming or being
transformed. In the context of the Lifespring trainings, transformation
consists of a shift in the fundamental ground of being which
generates your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
Transformation is a complete change in how
you experience reality.
What we don't mean by transformation
is a change in the content of your life. As a by-product of
transformation, the content or situations of your life may change.
For example, your marriage may improve, you may get that promotion,
you may lose weight, you may find yourself attracting more friends.
But it won't be because you learned how to achieve certain desired
results in the Basic Training. It will be because you transformed
the context of your life; you experienced a change of character,
condition, composition or structure. Another way to say this
is that the context from which you operate changes. By context,
I mean the invisible environment or the interrelated conditions
in which your life occurs.
