New Practices
Do you learn better in concentrated
doses--taking in large amounts of information in one concentrated
period, or do you learn better by having material presented
in small amounts, spread out over time?
Psychologists and educators have long
studied and debated the question of "massed practice"
vs. "distributed practice" in human learning.
Massed practice allows you to take in
the whole package at one time and see the inter-relationships
in what you are learning. This is particularly effective for
learning integrated "bundles" of ideas, principles,
or facts. In contrast, distributed practice allows much of the
material to slip away in the time between learning sessions.
It is easier to see the value and purpose
of one piece of the puzzle if all the other pieces are available.
You may remember from the Basic how the impossibly difficult
questions from the first evening got sorted out over the next
four days of the Training.
The Lifespring trainings were designed
in the "massed practice" model, where material is
presented in concentrated, high-impact sessions. Massed practice
allows you to shift your view of yourself and the world in a
short period of time.
